Nostalgia by a new way
The theme of nostalgia is deeply rooted in the human experience and is a powerful source of inspiration for art, literature and music. The theme encompasses personal and collective memories associated with the places where a person was born, grew up or spent a significant part of their life.
Nostalgia is associated with childhood memories, familiar landscapes, loved ones, and cultural characteristics. It can evoke warm feelings, longing for a bygone time, and a desire to return to a place that is associated with a carefree and happy period of life.
Nostalgia is a powerful emotion that inspires the creation of art that can unite people through shared memories and cultural values. It helps to preserve the connection with the past and pass it on to future generations.
Nostalgia for a new
For many immigrants, a new place of residence becomes a new homeland if they feel comfortable there and accept the local culture, values, and way of life. This place can provide new opportunities, security, and stability that may not have been available in their previous homeland.
Gradual integration into society, establishing social connections, learning the language and adapting to local traditions contribute to the perception of a new place as native.
Over time, immigrants create new memories in a new place, connected with important events in their lives — starting a family, achieving career goals, joyful moments. This helps to form an emotional attachment to the new place.
Many immigrants may feel connected to two homelands at the same time—the old one and the new one. This phenomenon of dual identity allows a person to maintain a connection with the culture and traditions of their first homeland, while accepting and integrating into the culture of the new country. Such dual belonging can be enriching to the individual and broaden their worldview.
For me personally, nostalgia in immigration feels completely new. But I’m sure I’ll miss this new place too.

The vernissage was amazing!
So many talented people per square meter — just incredible. It turned out to be a great creative evening, a real holiday for the sensual soul.
I was glad to meet new people and I hope that this is the beginning of a good friendship. The musical accompaniment created the atmosphere — it was mesmerizing and talented! It’s like a breath of fresh air.
